The Worst Ever

Bush... Who Else...?fcNeoCons Bush does not have to worry about securing a banner spot in the history of these United States.   Of course he was shooting for the stars and ends up shooting himself in the foot...   Over and Over and Over again...   This is not unexpected for a lot of us who saw this charlatan coming in 2000.   What is so sad is that thousands of people have lost their lives for this man's lies...

The NeoCon bird got it's neck wrung in the November 2006 Elections and the Wingnuts reduced to a true minority.   They have only one game plan left and this the only one they had to start with...   Fear...   Propoganda...   and Lies...

The thing is their fear-mongering has little to no effect now that voters have mandated a change in course.   This does not mean they are not still dangerously loose cannons and with two lame duck years left, we need to stay vigilant and make sure we keep an eagle eye on them.   We must guard against complacency and not place blind trust that the Democrats are going to do any better.

The battle of the netroots and what is important to the majority of Americans is going to be an on-going battle in the long war to return this country to normalcy and reason.   This war is just beginning...

He's The Worst Ever

By Eric Foner

Despite some notable accomplishments in domestic and foreign policy, Nixon is mostly associated today with disdain for the Constitution and abuse of presidential power. Obsessed with secrecy and media leaks, he viewed every critic as a threat to national security and illegally spied on U.S. citizens. Nixon considered himself above the law.

Bush has taken this disdain for law even further. He has sought to strip people accused of crimes of rights that date as far back as the Magna Carta in Anglo-American jurisprudence: trial by impartial jury, access to lawyers and knowledge of evidence against them. In dozens of statements when signing legislation, he has asserted the right to ignore the parts of laws with which he disagrees. His administration has adopted policies regarding the treatment of prisoners of war that have disgraced the nation and alienated virtually the entire world. Usually, during wartime, the Supreme Court has refrained from passing judgment on presidential actions related to national defense. The court's unprecedented rebukes of Bush's policies on detainees indicate how far the administration has strayed from the rule of law.

Historians are loath to predict the future. It is impossible to say with certainty how Bush will be ranked in, say, 2050. But somehow, in his first six years in office he has managed to combine the lapses of leadership, misguided policies and abuse of power of his failed predecessors. I think there is no alternative but to rank him as the worst president in U.S. history.

Eric Foner is DeWitt Clinton professor of history at Columbia University.

Anti War Politics - The 21st Century Peace Movement

30,000 weblogs. One Day. One Voice.
When the list reaches 30,000, a date and a word will be listed on the page. On that date, every weblog on the list agrees to make a single post with the word as the title. The content of the post should be about what you want for the world, whatever that may be. The purpose is not to make a particular political statement, but simply to make a noise. If 30,000 weblogs all post the same unusual word, it WILL be heard.
